Equestrian Rally

Equestrian Rally per team

4 days, team of 4 riders & horses

Activity: Equestrian trec

Level: Perfect mastery of the 3 gaits in outdoor and open terrain

Comfort : Bivouac & hotel with all comfort.

We propose you a participation in this new discipline which is still not very widespread and which is born in Morocco since 2 years.

In English, the word "trek" means "ride" and in Arabic "path", but the origin of the acronym TREC, Techniques de Randonnée Equestre de Compétition, is indeed French.
This sport discipline was born at the end of the 1980s in groups of trekking riders who wanted to measure their horses and their equestrian skills during events that would showcase the qualities necessary for trekking.

The equestrian discipline for outdoor enthusiasts par excellence, TREC consists of four events designed to evaluate the horse/rider couple.

The Rally begins on March 11 and ends on March 14, 2020.

Two possible options... either you come just for the Trec or for a full week in which we integrate this trec. The dates of the Trec from Essaouira.

  • 10 March: Welcome and briefing of participants in Essaouira; Accommodation in hotel or guesthouse in Essaouira.
  • March 11: Gathering at the start of the Rally for all the teams. First day on horseback; Night in Bivouac.
  • March 12: Second day of the equestrian rally; Night in bivouac; Animation and shows.
  • March 13: Third day of the equestrian rally; Night in bivouac; Entertainment and shows.
  • May 14: Last stage of the rally. Closing ceremony and trophy presentation in the afternoon; Transfer of participants to Essaouira.

Possibility to arrive by the airport of Essaouira, Marrakech or Agadir if you take the formula just TREC.

We offer a program for the week from Sunday, March 08 to Sunday, March 15. In this case an arrival in Marrakech and the return indifferently from Essaouira or Marrakech.

Throughout the adventure, the participants will enjoy every evening at the different camps and traditional shows. The bivouacs will offer every night comfortable tents, clean sanitary facilities and Moroccan gastronomy for the evening and morning meals. Lunch packs will be provided at lunchtime.

For the weekly formula, you come to meet the horses at Terres d'Amanar and you have two days of preparation before going down to Essaouira with them.

But of course, we provide for those who come from far away or do not own a horse, a companion for the week, stallions or ongres, selected and trained by our team, enduring, lively and docile. They are admirably adapted to the paths of Morocco and the coast in particular: small sure-footed and big-hearted, their gaits are raised.

Height at the withers: 1.45 m to 1.55 m.

They will amaze you by their resistance on sometimes most difficult paths... You will come back for them!

According to the order of registration you can be sure to have a horse from our cavalry, otherwise the SOREC (Royal Society for the Encouragement of Horses) provides riders with a herd of horses....

THE HORSES AND LEVEL

Minimum technical requirements

Perfect mastery of the 3 gaits in outdoor and open terrain: trotting with the trotters off, galloping in balance and in groups, keeping control of the horse (distance, direction) at brisk paces with a light hand. Minimum academic equivalent of gallop 4.
Riders over 90kg and over 1m95 must consult us before registration. Good physical conditions required.

Good physical condition required.

You can register even if this is your first participation in this kind of event.

Paces

It's up to you to precisely adjust the paces to enter the imposed time slot and especially to have a horse that has a recovery to pass the veterinary controls!

Autonomy and participation

It's a Trec... So you manage not only your horse and its shape but also the route. There are no markers and map and compass shows you the way. Contrary to endurance you are in a team... You leave as a team and you arrive as a team!

You will take care of your companion all week long: to groom, saddle, bridle and unhook his horse, you will also participate in the care of the horses (water and food distribution).

Level and experience required

Good physical condition and good endurance on horseback. A multi-day horseback riding experience is a plus, but is not mandatory. Riders who do not ride regularly must get back in the saddle before this rally so that you can best enjoy the scenery and atmosphere.

Equestrian Equipment

Saddles adapted to our horses made to measure by a very large house in Morocco! Saddlebags integrated to the saddle mat or independent are available.
Wearing a helmet is mandatory on the rally...! We have a few helmets on site but preferably bring your own equipment. During your registration to note if you want a helmet and note the size.

Meals

Hearty dinners, full traditional or international breakfast.

For lunch, to avoid plastic bottles, provide micro-pure tablets or we provide filtered water (catadyn ceramic filter). We advise you to take one or two metal cans with you... to avoid plastic.

Climate in March in the Essaouira region:

On the Atlantic coast in March the weather is the beginning of spring... But in case of bad weather... It can look like the Mediterranean winter.

Global warming makes all standards obsolete!

Encadrement

The director of our equestrian center supervises the whole week... the part before the rally and follows you during the rally. He is assisted by a team of instructors, French / English speaking Moroccan equestrian guides assisted by grooms.
