Experience and endurance training

Learn what it takes to become a great endurance rider before embarking on your own adventure and taking part in an official race. Travel through this magnificent region and embrace the local Moroccan culture.

Day 1 — 1 : EUROPE - MARRAKESH - ATLAS MOUNTAINS

Day flight to Marrakesh. Your guides will be waiting to greet you at the airport and take you to our eco-lodge in the mountains (45 minutes drive). An introduction to the team, fellow riders and horses before enjoying a welcome lunch on the terrace. Time to relax before dinner. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Marrakesh as you have dinner at the farm restaurant.

Day 2 — 2: ENDURANCE TRAINING - 4 to 5 hours riding

After breakfast you will be paired with your horse before starting your endurance course. Start your day with a moderate pace as you get to know your horse and work on your endurance position. Enjoy a delicious lunch made up of local produce, before getting back into the saddle. Discover the real thrills of endurance as you vary your pace, and pick up the pace for your afternoon ride. A video session in the evening to help you prepare for the race ahead. Dinner at the lodge restaurant.

Day 3 — 3: ENDURANCE TRAINING - 4 hours riding

A morning spent in the saddle. Today, you will discover that endurance isn?t just about the riding. An afternoon spent doing cardio GPS practice and vet control simulation, as well as learning the correct way to present your horse in a veterinarian trot up. Dinner at the lodge restaurant.

Day 4 — 4 : ENDURANCE TRAINING - 6 hours riding

Today will start by resuming the endurance training programme and continue to practice cardio GPS. After lunch, you will head out onto the uneven and varied tracks of the Atlas Mountain to gain an insight into the difficulties of endurance riding. Enjoy the beautiful Moroccan landscape as you ride further into the mountains and surrounding villages. A delicious picnic lunch in a superb setting before delving into the do?s and don?ts of your race strategy! Dinner at the lodge restaurant.

Day 5 — 5 : ENDURANCE TRAINING - 3 to 4 hours riding

After learning and perfecting the techniques of an endurance race, you will put into practice everything that you have learned and ride out into the Moroccan countryside. Here, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery and the variety of terrain- a perfect landscape to help you prepare for the race. In the evening, you will be joined by your trainers for some final advice before the big day ahead. Dinner at the lodge restaurant.

Day 6 — 6 : ENDURANCE PREPERATION - 3 hours riding

After breakfast, race preparation is in full flow! A morning of light training and preparation for you and your horse. Teams of horses and competitors arrive throughout the day and settle into the racing village. The atmosphere is spectacular, with a feel of excitement and anticipation for the big day ahead. A debrief given by the federation, before spending an evening with fellow competitors and trainers.

Day 7 — 7 : ENDURANCE RACE

It's race day! Saddle up and get ready for a spectacular day ahead. 20, 30 or 40km is dependant on each horse and rider. Endurance races in Morocco have been practiced for over ten years now, with many horses qualifying for the 80km races! Start the race on the marked track, veterinary control after the first 20km. Take in the magnificent surrounding scenery as you pick up the pace. At the end of your race, you will put into practice your trot-up techniques and present your horse to the vet for final inspection. Once the horse has been cared for, washed down and given a well deserved feed, the prize giving presentation will begin. An evening of good food and celebrations for your last night in Morocco.

Day 8 — 8 : ATLAS MOUNTAINS - MARRAKESH - EUROPE

A final breakfast before you wish farewell to the amazing horses and trainers. Transfer to Marrakesh Airport for your return flight back to Europe. If you would like to extend your stay, after lunch transfers are available to Marrakesh city centre. Lunch at an additional cost.

Extensions can be organised upon request. It is possible to organise a stay in a hotel or riad in Marrakesh or any other city with a tailor-made programme. Please enquire for further information.
