Day 30: departure

After breakfast, it’s time to catch your flight home or continue your journey, marking the end of an
exceptional Moroccan horseback adventure.

Cavalery

Stallions or ungres bearded and Arabian bearded, selected and trained by our team, enduring, lively and docile. They are trained to tackle this great crossing. They are admirably adapted to desert, sandy or rocky grounds: small and sure feet and big heart, their gaits are raised. Some of them are endurance champions and all of them are trained by seasons of hiking. The team manages their programs as best as they can for athletes.

THE HORSES AND LEVEL

Minimum technical requirements

Perfect mastery of the 3 gaits in outdoor and open terrain: trotting with the trotters off, galloping in balance and in groups, keeping control of the horse (distance, direction) at brisk paces with a light hand. Minimum academic equivalent of gallop 4.
Riders over 90kg and over 1m95 must consult us before registration. Good physical conditions required

You need experience in horseback riding. And also if you have a human experience of a logue adventure... It is ideal.

Paces

If you want to go far, take care of your mount! It's up to you, with the help of your instructor, to manage your horse's form and adjust the pace so that you finish this month's ride with a companion in top form! He is capable of lasting longer than that... but it is up to you to feel and get to know your horse to know what he is capable of doing without going into the "red zone".

Autonomy and participation

Everyone is required to dress, saddle, bridle and unhook his horse. They are also expected to participate in camp tasks, including the setting up and dismantling of tents. You can participate according to your wishes in the care of the horses (distribution of water and food).

Level and experience required

Good physical condition and good endurance on horseback.
A multi-day horseback riding experience is a plus, but is not mandatory. Riders who don't ride regularly must get back in the saddle before the ride.
Encountering different cultures and mentalities implies an acceptance of these differences and respect for them.

Equestrian Equipment

Tailor-made hiking saddles, very practical saddlebags are available.
Bombs or helmets are not mandatory but strongly recommended. Our partner has a few bombs, but preferably bring your own equipment. In case of request, please do so when you register.

Des dunes à l’océan, la très grande traversée du désert.

Comfort

Bivouac adventure. Hotel first and last night and every weekend:

In bivouac: igloo tent for two (possible single on request and supplement). Mess tent with table and chair. Country shower tent and toilet tent.
Hotel : the regions we cross sometimes do not offer palaces... but you will have alternatively charming or local hotels.

Meals

Prepared by our cook : copious and hot dinners, breakfast as complete as possible. Picnic lunch carried in the saddlebags or when possible with the assistance vehicle.

For water we try to avoid plastic bottles as much as possible. Bring micropur tablets or we provide filtered water (catadyn ceramic filter). We advise you to take one or two metal cans with you... to avoid plastic.

Climate in the Sahara in January/February:

Winter is of course the best time to cross the Sahara... but we have to be aware that the risks of bad weather are not excluded. Rain and sandy winds can be present and force us to change our itinerary or to adapt. The nights are cool, it can freeze and during the days the temperatures can rise to more than 25° or 30°.

Global warming makes all standards obsolete!
